Gold Medal Park Conservancy

The Conservancy is a private, not-for-profit 501(c)(3) foundation formed in 2006. The Conservancy’s mission is to develop and maintain Gold Medal Park and similar urban spaces near the central Mississippi riverfront. We seek to broaden participation in supporting and maintaining the park, to secure and strengthen its positive impact on our community well into the future.

Highlights

2006 Gold Medal Park Conservancy formed. McGuire family funds initial development.

2007 Gold Medal Park opens.

2014 Conservancy establishes seven member community board and acquires Guthrie parkland.

2015 Three sculptures from Walker Sculpture Garden are relocated to Gold Medal Park.

2017 Fourth sculpture from Walker Sculpture Garden relocated to Gold Medal Park. 

2023 Lighting of four sculptures and addition of street lights on West River Road.
